We believe in the power of grassroots sport and how it can be used as a tool to not only improve, but change people\u2019s lives for the better.<\/p>

The aim of Kitunlocker is to provide assistance to clubs that have an important purpose off the pitch but may need a bit of a leg up when it comes to their kit. As well as this, we want to use our platform to help them spread their unique messages as far and wide as possible.<\/p>

Introducing: Rara Avis FC<\/strong><\/h2>

Rara Avis FC (Latin translation: a rare bird) are an inner-city women\u2019s football club from Leicester. The club was founded by friends Lubna Azam and Aisha Hansrot just before the pandemic in 2020. Their main objectives are to widen participation and create opportunities for South Asian women and girls in sport.<\/p>

\u201cIt\u2019s really important to us that South Asian women stay fit and active and don\u2019t feel like they can\u2019t participate\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

\u201cCORE\u201d<\/strong> is at the heart of everything Rara Avis do, and represents the values of: \u201ccommunity, opportunity, respect and equity\u201d<\/em>. Lubna told us that \u201cwe want all of our members to discover these qualities within them\u201d.<\/em><\/p>

The club has competed in tournaments and holds weekly sessions for their members with the help of Leicester City in the Community. They want to continue to build their strong core of players and be able to play in a local league.<\/p>

Lubna and Aisha are working hard to break down the traditional barriers and old-fashioned pre-conceptions when it comes to South Asians and sport. More from them on this below.<\/p>

Thanks to Nike for providing us with the stunning new Rara Avis home and away kits, which we designed in collaboration with the team. And also for the Nike sport hijabs that we were able to provide to the girls when we joined them in Leicester.<\/p>
