Grenfell Athletic FC are a football club born out of tragedy, with the aim of being a beacon of hope to a devastated community. Formed by local resident Rupert Taylor after the 2017 Grenfell disaster, the club has gone from strength to strength, forming a vital hub for local people to enjoy both sport and a feeling of collective solidarity.
The team have become a force to be reckoned with on the pitch too, currently plying their trade in the Middlesex County Leagues. But they don’t want to stop there. They have plans to grow further by adding youth teams and a women’s teams to their ranks. Long-term, they want to climb the footballing pyramid and provide the people of Grenfell with their own stadium.
Last week they launched their new kit in partnership with Nike and Kitlocker.com. Profits from the sale of Grenfell Athletic products go into funding the development of the football club, as a source of hope, solidarity and mental and physical health for the Grenfell community. So, when you buy a Grenfell Athletic FC shirt, you are doing more than just buy another football shirt, you are helping to lift up a community.
The kit launch was backed by a host of current and ex-footballers as well as big names from the world of music and entertainment. 72 to be exact. Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and rapper/presenter Big Zuu are just a few of the famous supporters.

The shirts have been custom designed and made with love by Nike and Kitlocker. Both the home and away shirts feature the iconic Grenfell crest and a tribute to the 72 people who tragically lost their lives in the fire.
The green home shirt is made with sustainable materials. The silicone/satin crests are heat applied for minimal irritation and maximum quality. The 72 badge and green heart are water-based ink prints, meaning they’re very durable and withstand countless washes without degrading. As well as the home and away shirts, the range includes training tops, cotton tees and even a kit for small kids.

As my son and I are QPR supporters. Buying the team shirt is a small way of showing our sorrow, support and respect to the football team and the community.
